The information you include on your resume is dependent on what you are applying for. Consider your most relevant qualifications: education, experiences, academic activities or projects, extracurricular involvement, leadership and more.
We understand that you may not have professional employment experience as a student. That is okay! We want to know what have you been doing, not just what you have been paid to do. Reflect on how you have spent your time and built your skills.
Decide what is most relevant to include for this position application! For the ASP application, resume only needs to be 1 page long.
Think about how your resume may add to the other application materials you will submit! What isn't reflected in those that you want to highlight in your resume?
What should I include in my supplemental questions?
Instead of a cover letter, we ask for supplemental questions to be answered. These are specific questions for the position that you are applying for. Supplemental Questions are an opportunity for us to learn more about you, your unique experiences, and interest in the position.
Here are some general tips and resources to support you in your supplemental questions.
Read through the position description of the position you are applying to and think about what stood out to you in this position. What draws you to apply to this position specifically?
Read through each question on the supplemental questions and think about what you want to say. How can your answers to different questions help tell your story, experiences and interest?
We are not looking for a perfect writing piece but rather more interested in learning about you and who you may be as a future tutor, coach or student assistant!
Being that this is a peer to peer position, sharing your experiences as a student is important!
Providing specific examples helps us get to know you! Feel free to share an example and connect that to the question.
It can be helpful to have someone else read over your responses to make sure that it your answers display what you want to say.
We won't review any supplemental questions for our applications in the CLUE Writing Center due to our tutors being a part of the our hiring committees. However, you can bring them to the OWRC.

Interviews are a place where we get to meet you and learn more about you! This is a place you can elaborate more on your experiences, interests, and story and taking it off the paper application into an interview.

The more you interview the more comfortable you get so we encourage you to practice!
STAR Method of Interviewing - Check out this resource from the Career Center about a method of interviewing. This method allows an interviewee to describe different parts of an experience so the interviewers can better understand the whole picture of the experience.
