ASP staff is made up of Academic Success Coaches, Drop-in Tutors, Exam Review Tutors, and Student Assistants.

CLUE Tutoring

  • Drop-in Tutors work in the following subjects:
    • Biology
    • Chemistry
    • Computer Science
    • Math
    • Physics
    • Writing
  • Exam Review Tutors support the on-sequence introductory-level courses in the following subjects:
    • Biology
    • Chemistry
    • Math
    • Physics
  • Student Assistants that support daily operations of CLUE.
  • Discussion Session Leaders are nominated by instructors teaching a specific course. They can be the current TA for the course or a student who has done well that the professor selects. The session leader is hired by ASP to run weekly sessions for that quarter. 

Academic Success Coaching

  • Academic Success Coaching has a variety of different coaching positions:

No, ASP only hires UW undergraduate and graduate students who will be enrolled at least part time (at least 6 credits for undergraduate students, 4 credits for graduate students), through their employment length. We typically hire for the full academic year with a commitment of Fall, Winter & Spring quarters.

ASP hires the majority of positions in spring quarter for the next academic year. Positions will be posted on Handshake and linked on our Work with Us website. 

As we get many applications, we can only offer top candidates interview offers. Interviews will be conducted during spring quarter after the application closes. All applicants will be contacted with an update of their status by the end of May. 

On occassion, we open positions outside of this hiring cycle typically in the summer or throughout the year when needed. They will be posted on our Work with Us website and on Handshake. 

Yes, you can apply for more than one subject. You cannot be hired to work more than one subject. If you are selected to interview for more than one subject, you can let the hiring committee know your preferred subject team. If you are interested in both the Drop-in Tutor and Exam Review Tutor position, you must apply for both positions separately on Handshake.

Yes, you can apply to multiple coaching positions. You must apply separately on Handshake and submit each applications to the corresponding Handshake posting. You cannot be hired for more than one position. If offered an interview, you will be notified for which position(s).

Read through the position description to see what the required qualifications are for each of the positions. For CLUE positions, there are required courses you must have completed. You must pass the course, but there is no minimum GPA requirement for the core courses. 

Our pay rates (hourly) are as follows:

Pay rates are for the 2024-2025 academic year. They are subject to adjustment under the UAW 4121 contract guidelines.
